Walking distance to downtown restaurants and shopping. Helpful staff. Nice furnishings and a really comfortable bed! Funky, eclectic, lots of character. Reasonable price.
Lack of refreshing after the original renovation in 2005....stained carpets, scarred walls, chipped sink and cracked tub with gooped-up caulking.....and this was in the Eisenhower suite! Lots of street and train noise...but hey, it's the city! No wifi access in the room...had to go to the lobby with my laptop. No parking, so you shuffle between local parking lots and on-street. Noisy heating system and drafty windows. Still, we prefer it over the typical bland corporate chain hotels! Be aware of the limitations and enjoy it!

We absolutely adored this hotel!! It's our new favorite! This is not a cookie cutter hotel, but one with real character that you just do not find any more! It is like walking into a hotel from the 1900's. There were comfortable central lobbies on each floor with a fire place that looked up to a vaulted sky roof. The furniture are all rustic antiques, not the stuffy kind, but what you would of found in a nice hotel gone by. The ceilings are about 15 foot high. The bathroom has a soaking Jacuzzi tub and a lighted mirror for shaving. The bedding and bed were so comfortable! The area is in the historic district and has lots of fun shops and atmosphere. We parked our car and walked all over the area. Close to the mall, riverfront, Macys, you name it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A thank you to Brenda for helping make our stay so enjoyable.
This hotel is not for you if you enjoy staying at a run of mill place with waffles for breakfast, a weight room, and everything new and sterile. Yes the lobby rug has some stains, it has noise from the street, and you have to pay for parking somewhere. Don't go and give us a better chance at getting a reservation. Because everyone who was there on our night said they loved the place and will be coming back. Making it harder for me to book every time I come to town!

I loved this old historic building, downtown spokane. We had a nice stay and the front desk was very helpfull and very nice. We will stay again.
It's a old building, a little noise out side. But not bad, we stayed in the Davenport Hotel on the top floor and it was just as loud.

The hotel itself is beautiful.
At night all the noise from outside comes through the walls and windows, so you wake up at all hours from the street below. The coffee could stand to be better, we walked down the street for a good cup, because Montvale's just is not a good cup of coffee.

We loved this hotel. The neighbourhood was good and the hotel itself was really cool. In the hotel, we noticed a vintage picture of the Montvale in the hallway (sort of like an art print) and were wondering if you have an image of this picture you could send? I can email you to show you what I'm referring to, as we found a really small version of it, but we're interested in obtaining a larger version of it? Thanks.
